Colorado State against Oklahoma State in Alamo Bowl

The Big XII runner up and No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys received their bowl bid and accepted an invitation to meet the No. 10 ranked Colorado Buffaloes in San Antonio’s premier college event, The 23rd Annual Valero Alamo Bowl held in the home of the University of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners, the Alamodome.

“We’re extremely excited to be playing in San Antonio in the 2016-alamo-bowl-1Valero Alamo Bowl,” CU coach Mike MacIntyre said. “Oklahoma State is an excellent team, really high-powered. Mike (Gundy) has done a real good job there, and it’s going to be a heck of a football game with a great atmosphere.”

Oklahoma State had a seven game winning streak working until this Saturday when they were dismantled by the Oklahoma Sooners 38-20 for the Big XII Championship.  Colorado is coming off a 41-10 loss to eventual PAC 12 Champion Washington Friday night.

Horned Frogs welcomed into the Alamo City

The city of San Antonio is known for a few famous things;  The Alamo, The Riverwalk and the San Antonio Spurs are but the top three.   Right after that comes the Valero Alamo Bowl now in it’s 23rd edition.

This years game (which figures to pump about $30 million into the city’s economy)  features the TCU Horned Frogs who last stepped foot in San Antonio to play 62 years ago when they beat the Trinity Tigers 47-0.  TCU will face the Oregon Ducks,who last appeared in the 2013 Edition of the Alamo Bowl when they beat the Texas Longhorns 30-7.  TCU and Oregon last met in 1977 when the then Oregon Webfoots beat TCU 29-24.

This is a great match for the Alamo Bowl, who has produced eight of the top 20 most watched bowl games in ESPN history, and you have the opportunity to be there!
